About Countervest

Countervest Investments Pvt Limited (“Countervest”) is a Zimbabwean private company which is 100% wholly-owned and operated by the South Africa–based Abdurahman family, led by our patriarch, Josh Abdurahman. The family has long established businesses, starting in the early 1900’s, in commercial retailing and property development in South Africa and Australia. In August 2005, we made our first investment in Zimbabwe, being the purchase of a 4 ha site at 17 George Walker Rd, Hatfield in Harare. This is now being developed as “RivieraZim Estate “.

From our investments in Southern Africa, the Abdurahman family has been serving the emerging needs of African communities. We provide modern housing infrastructure in safe, secure and sustainable environments with access to local facilities – transport, retail and education. Our aim is to improve the quality of life for Africa’s children and progress their exciting potential. We are encouraged by the Zimbabwean Government’s National Housing Delivery Programme initiative promoting public-private partnerships between local and international investors to deliver high quality housing and community facilities to all Zimbabweans.

For the RivieraZim Estate project, the family has partnered with local construction company and developer, Picco Construction. The project will be developed in 2 stages – an initial 47 home residential precinct followed by a commercial development. Proposals include the development of a state-of-the-art medical centre and medical services, and hotel accomodation facilities.

We are confident that this investment will be our first of many in Zimbabwe.
